MOVEMENTWORKS® RESEARCH STUDY: EACD & IAACD 2025 CONFERENCE

Professor Dido Green of Jönköping University is presenting the new Research Study that she and MovementWorks® Founder, Creative and Artistic Director, Ali Golding are currently working on at the 4th Triennial Meeting of the International Alliance of Academies of Childhood Disability (IAACD) and the 37th Annual Meeting of the European Academy Of Childhood-onset Disability (EACD) in Heidelberg, Germany
Dido will be presenting the results so far in the form of a poster for the study 'Creativity - what does it mean and how do we measure it?' Learning through engagement in dance/artistic activities has been shown to enhance creativity; linked also to imaginative play, problem solving, motor development and initiation of positive social behaviours.
The results to date has been collated from completed questionnairs involving the thoughts, opinions and feedback from parents, teachers and therapists (delivering dance, music and arts’ therapies) along with autistic individuals and other professionals (including educational psychologists and local authority stakeholders/managers) during this presentation.
Our most recent published paper (March 2024) ‘Expectations and experiences of a dance programme for autistic children: A qualitative study of parents, teachers and therapists’ highlighted the potential impacts across multiple levels of the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) BUT the ICF does not include a domain for ‘creativity’.
If you would like to take part in this survey questionnaire, which we launched in January is still open and you can access it from here: Link and you can also find out more details from the related news item.
