EXTENSION OF OUR COMMUNITY PROJECT 'ACTION FOR AUTISM'

We are delighted to share the news that our community project 'Action for Autism' has now been extended to December 2025,
thanks to new funding from Wandsworth Arts and Culture Services
The project was due to finish this month, but following discussions with the Cultural Programme Manager, Katherine Hill, we received initial funding so the group could take part in the Wandsworth London Borough of Culture Launch event in April at Battersea Park (more information to follow).
We were then invited to submit a proposal to continue our project to the end of December so that the group could take part in other events planned across the borough and we heard yesterday that our funding had been agreed. The group will now also perform at:
- Wandsworth Arts Festival, Royal Academy of Dance Community Day of Dance (June)
- The Happy Streets Festival (July)
- The Liberty Festival (September)
We are delighted that we can continue with this project that we have been running for over 5 years and the last 2 years in Wandsworth; it has made a real difference to the young people involved.
'Action for Autism'
Is a weekly Autism Movement Therapy® session for young people aged between 11 - 18 years are held weekly after school hours at Tooting Leisure Centre during term-time.
We have successfully delivered our ‘Action For Autism’ Project for over 5 years in various settings including mainstream and special schools, closed community groups and in public facing projects in community leisure facilities and in Wandsworth for over 2 years. The Project takes the form of weekly well-being focused dance sessions led by experienced our professional Autism Movement Therapy® Practitioners. The sessions include participating in learning rhythmic and dance movement patterns and sequences and interactive games that encourage creative and social collaboration.

We are now accepting applications for young people to join the group, so if you would like to find out more, like your child to take part or know of a young person who would benefit from these session, you can either complete the form on our 'Action for Autism' webpage or email: info@movementworks.org.
