MOVEMENTWORKS FOR LEARNING!
Based on the groundbreaking publication ‘Move More, Learn More’ (Teachers College Press, 2026), This one-day training, presented by programme creator and author, Ali Golding, introduces the science, theory and application of developmental dance for supporting neurotypical and neurodivergent learners.
An Introduction to improving educational outcomes through evidence-based movement practice
Developmental Dance Movement® and Autism Movement Therapy®
This unique training course provides participants with an introduction to the theoretical and practical understanding of how movement and dance practice can make a significant difference to early years development, developmental delay and improve brain function for both neurotypical and neurodiverse learners impacting on their attainment and life chances.
The day is a mixture of presentations, discussions and practical sessions. Participants will come away with a fuller understanding of why and how movement and dance supports both physical development and learning for both neurotypical and neurodiverse learners, and will have improved their understanding of the benefits of movement based learning plus have a greater understanding of safe and effective movement practice.

AUTISM MOVEMENT THERAPY® TRAINING
As the Global Lead for Autism Movement Therapy® we host regular Stage 1: Certification Intensive Training Workshops (normally over a weekend) and also provide Professional Level Training (minimum entry requirement Stage I AMT Certification)

DEVELOPMENTAL DANCE MOVEMENT®
MovementWorks® provides bespoke training in our Flagship Programme Developmental Dance Movement® and offers an In-House Training Programme that can either form part of a programme of classes for the staff attending the sessions to gain a further understanding and support the children or we can provide full training with certification for staff to host your own sessions.

Our highly acclaimed CPD has seen MovementWorks invited to present both nationally and internationally including at Google HQ for TeachMeet, the TES SEN Show, the National Autistic Society International Congress and the Expressive Arts Summit in New York; you can see a more extensive list at the bottom of this page in the section ‘Who we have worked with'
We’ve been awarded a prestigious featured space at the National Autism Shows in London, Birmingham and Manchester highlighting our level of expertise in this field, which is also reflected in our consultancy work for other dance organisations including The Royal Ballet School and Royal Academy of Dance.
What to expect
MovementWorks professional development seminars and workshops provide both a theoretical background and practical exploration of the links between movement, development and learning. Suitable for teachers, SENCOs, teaching assistants, and all early years and SEN&D practitioners responsible for children's development and learning.
These seminars encompass a number of perspectives from the scientific underpinning of physical development to informing how certain physical markers and behaviours can indicate developmental delay, to effective ways to integrate dance and movement activities with students who have a variety of specific needs including ASD, SLD and PMLD.
They aim to develop a deeper understanding and practical application of this knowledge which is relevant to observation of children engaged in a MovementWorks programme and a wider P.E context.
This knowledge supports children's learning in a way that is enjoyable and links to other areas of the curriculum.
MovementWorks has been commissioned to deliver CPD training for London Borough Councils, NHS professionals, Modern Montessori National regions and National and International Professional Conferences. We also offer training in association with the CPD group.
Further & Higher Education
MovementWorks provides undergraduate and postgraduate level lecture seminars with reference to PE research, neuro-physical research and its relationship to movement and cognition and the application of our programmes.
These lectures are of particular relevance to courses in Dance/Sports Science, Dance Teaching, Physical Education and Early Years Education and PGCE Courses, Careers in traditional therapies and paediatric clinical practice.
The past few years has seen exciting developments for our further and higher education seminars with guest presentations at Greenwich - 'Dance Movement as intervention for children with ASD - new approaches and perspectives' and New York University, London 'Comparative Perspectives on Autism and Well-Being'.
